Writing the Vision

In its fornmer glory days, Tabernacle was one of the flagship Lutheran churches in West Philadelphia. Today, the Lord is truly doing a new thing! I have asked the members of our congregation to envision the various ministries that Tabernacle might offer in this new millennium. Based on the comments that were received, it is envisioned that our congregation will endeavor to be an education / communications hub that will provide the a variety of resources that will improve the quality of life for all resideants in this community. Some of the reources that are sorely needed in this area are:

GED Training / Computer literacy training for sebniors
WIFI / internet access in all areas of the church
Music training for children/ young adults
After school latchkey program (tutoring, mentoring, games, activities)
Video teleconferencing equipment
Transportation ministry
Credit Union / micro loan program / financial literacy training

Obviously, to become the community resource that we envision, the top priority at this time is correcting the structural problem that currently exists under the main hallway of our church building. Correcting this problem will give us an opportunity to us to continue doing ministry in this community. Unfortunately, there are no easy solutions. As a congregation, we must walk by faith and not by sight!
